Hiking to the Hollywood Sign
One of the things that has been on my LA bucket list for a long time now was to hike to the Hollywood Sign. On Monday, I finally got the chance to do it! The hike isn't as popular as Runyon or Griffith, but with a gorgeous view right behind the infamous sign, the hike isn't one to be ignored.
We drove to 3000 N Beachwood Dr. in Hollywood and parked in front the residential area, as there is no designated parking for this hike. After walking for about 10 minutes, we passed a gate and begun our hike. At one point there is a junction where you either turn left or right; on the left there is a ranch with a dozen of horses, and on the right is the beginning of the trail. If you're looking to see the Hollywood Sign in a unique way, you might want to try going by horseback! The ranch has daily tours up and down the trail.
The hike took about 2 hours and was a moderate hike, with occasional steep inclination and high altitude. While you're hiking up the mountain, you will see glimpses of the Hollywood Sign throughout, and at one point you can make the decision to either be in front of the sign or behind. We decided to go all the way up the mountain, behind the sign, to get a full view of Los Angeles.
